PROJECT ERDYIA

What is Project Erdyia?

Project Erdyia is the first project that I've worked on, it's an open-level based game, where tons of huge segmented levels connect with each other to explore and fight bad robots!

This project was created using Unreal Engine 4, Blender & Gimp

There will be a reboot of this concept with my new skills and knowledge in mind. This project was a massive learning experience.

ENVIRONMENT

PLOT SYNOPSIS

The world of Erdyia takes place over 10,000 years into the future, humans have abandoned their native planet due to now forgotten reasons. Erdyia is a world where humans crash-landed into this planet, and the ship that carried the humans remains to be renamed "The Titian's Origin." Technology was destroyed, then forgotten, and humanity had to rebuild itself from scratch.

However, despite humans existing on this planet for over 100 years, a threat from their past finally comes back to finish its job, and only you are aware of its threat, but only one problem, you are a fugitive for reasons you aren't fully aware of yet.

GAMEPLAY DESCRIPTION

The gameplay of Erdyia mostly consists of exploration of the level you're currently in. There are side-quests that allow you to understand the world and/or break up the darker story undertones with a more lighthearted mood story. You can sprint, dash, and jump to anywhere you can see on the map.

The combat of Erdyia was the shortcoming of this original project, not because it was hard to add mechanically, but because the 2D sprite character in a 3D world with 8 angles of animation, required me to animate everything at every angle. Due to this reason, my newer 'revised project' of this will be using new reactionary combat not seen in most other games, it also makes the combat stand out more compared to the admittedly less unique combat system of running, using a sword, switching to other weapons to do different attacks. There was also a parry system which all functioned differently with different weapons.

SHOOT YOUR PROBLEMS AWAY

What is Shoot Your Problems Away?

Shoot Your Problems Away, is a 2-day Game Jam that I and Daniel Sohler have whipped together. I've worked on the level design, visuals & animation, and gameplay controller.

Shoot Your Problems Away is a game about well-being and taking of yourself with a spin of robots being representative of your negative thoughts while actively keeping your well-being in check.

The reason why I show this here is to prove that I can create a concept and get it working quickly, showing that I can create a quick prototype for a small game if needed.

My Involvement

I was the mechanical & gameplay designer for Taste of Your Own Medicine, I've also worked on the interactive events and the map "Ticky Tavern," this was my AIE's last year major project. I'm really proud of this effort, and I'm keen to return to this idea for a more realized potential release based on the experience we've gained from this project.
